America, the 'fattest country'
Tuesday, December 29, 2009

Well, I've just finished reading my friend, Michelle's blog about her trip in America and how wonderful it was and yes it did sound beautiful. However she did quote that "The food is awesome but the quantities are HUGE!!" which made me thought about how America is considered the 'fattest country' - yes that's just a metaphor - we're talking about it's people. It could be an exaggeration, but if Australia is the second fattest country, then who's to say America isn't first? They're first with nearly everything anyway, such as landing on the Moon.
Today I went shopping by myself - yes I know, that's lame, my friends all lashed out on me. - at High Point and entered Cotton On. Going through the tags on the clothes I noticed that the sizes in countries were different. take for Example for a shirt I saw. The size analogies of the very same shirt was an AUS M would be a USA S and an AUS size 10 was a USA 6. No, I'm not joking, these comparisons were of the same shirts.
Furthermore, if you've watched the documentary Super Size Me by Morgan Spurlock, you'll see what I mean. Morgan highlights how America was indeed the 'fattest country' because of fast food franchise such as McDonald's.

나는 당신을 사랑합니다

Sigh, Korean dramas, Japanese dramas, Taiwanese dramas, you have to admit, as an Asian person, you've probably had watched them before and probably still watch them. Even some people who are not of an Asian background become exposed to Asian dramas and get hooked on. There's no denial, Asian dramas are a real big hit, appealing to older and younger people. But one things for sure, Asian dramas are losing their originality now. We've always dissed Hollywood for stealing our Asian movies, however has it ever come to thought that even Asian directors are stealing stories off each other? Think about it, when have you seen a story where the main character loses their parents in a tragic accident or somehow get separated from them and raised by and adopted family? Not many, right? Also, the cliche story where the main character is in a car accident and loses their memories and their loved ones. Sure, it makes us feel sad and spark a few - if not; bucket-load of tears. But it's all just too cliche.
On the other hand, I still love these dramas. Not because I'm Asian - trust me, I like watching movies and dramas by Hollywood as well and Australian directors - but because it takes you into a whole different world. You experience romantic situations that probably wouldn't actually occur in real life and you're exposed to violence that -thank dear God, you will hopefully not feel. Well, enough about why I like dramas, it's about time I told you about a series I've just completed.
It's called Iljimae and stars Lee Jun Ki. It's a fictional, historical drama filled with laughter and tears. It was about a noble family who were scapegoats due to the corrupted kingdom in Korea and because of that, half of the family were killed off. The surviving boy who escaped imprisonment lost his memory due to the trauma of seeing his loved ones die right before him and finally adopted into a family. However, there is more than meets the eye to the family who adopted him. I don't really want to spoil the drama for you, so you should watch it yourself. Trust me, you'll be absorbed by it. However, I watched it in the Vietnamese dubbed version, as I found it in my house, so I'm pretty sure my Mother bought it. i reccomend you buy it in the Korean version with English subtitles. You don't have to buy the original - nobody ever does anymore, it's too costly -, all you need is a pirated and good quality version.
Another drama I watched way before that was Hwang jini. It's about a girl who was abandoned by her kisaeng (Korea's equivalent of a geisha) Mother so that she could lead a peaceful life, however having the blood of a kisaeng running through her veins and lured in by the music and dance, she chose the pathway that her Mother chose anyway. Through this movie, we watch as Hwang jini blossoms from an innocent and naive little girl into Korea's greatest and coldest kisaeng, her failed relationships and also her art. Staring in this movie is Ha Ji Won, Jang Guen-suk and Kim Jae Won. Yes, very good and hot actors in one drama, however I must admit they look kinda weird in the conservative get-up.

HAPPY 17th BIRTHDAY JOOLIE!
I hope you had a great day with the people you love and that you have a good nights sleep. I'm excited about Saturday ;D

Today, I declined all my invitations out of the house and stayed home under my covers, in front of my computer. You see, it was 38-39 degrees celcius today, I would had been an idiot to leave this house. Of course I did leave to my backyard to find my puppy.
I have three new puppies now. Their names are Happy, Pompom and Toby. Pompom and Toby are seven weeks old and Maltese Cross Shi tzu puppies that we purchased from a breeder. I was suppose to buy them with Dominic, however I bought them with my Mother instead. It was an ironic story, as we were in a car and I told my Mother my plans so that she should give me my bank card and she she scolded me that we didnt have time for them. Suddenly, right after she spotted a board selling puppies and did a U-turn in the round-a-bout and parked in front of those breeder's house. I commented how it was ironic and she laughed it off.
Being Asian, my Mother hassled a good price for the puppies. I remember in the city, I saw Maltese Puppies and Shi tzu's sold for approximate $700, but the breeder was only going to sell us females for $380 and males $350. My Mom kept hassling him until we got a pair of $650, which is obviously lower than a price for one puppy in the pet shop. I was very happy and these two puppies became the objectives of my life. I've grown to love them more and more. Dominic was very disappointed when he heard the news. However I took him shopping and we bought them doggy toys, hair accessories for Pompom and doggy bowls, shampoo and perfume. They're suppose to train us to be good parents and I do believe I've been doing a good job. I've been waking up early at 5 A.M to feed them and when they first arrived they couldn't sleep by themself, therefore resulting in my sleeping on the floor with them.
A while later, Happy arrived. She's seven months old and a breed that i am ignorant of. However, my Mother told me she was a breed from Japan and was very smart. She was given to us by family friends and made a very bad first impression on me. She tried to be 'boss' with my puppies and growled at them constantly so I threatened to 'eat' her. However she has digged her way into my heart and I have also grown to love her and see her as one of my children.
My 3 months with Dominic is tomorrow. We were suppose to watch Avatar in 3D together, but work forced him to delay it until Sunday. He's working full time at his parent's butcher shop in Preston, for these school holidays and Christmas preparations have got them busy. There are more customers and being short on staff is not an option for their business at this crucial time. Moreover, Sunday was also declined for this reason. I was really upset, but there really is no way to change his mind. He also told me he's not sure when the next time he could see me would be. A bit shattering to hear from the person you're currently in a serious relationship with. I am an understanding person, however I'm also persistent, so I will be trying to compromise something. Maybe on that day, at night we could go watch the movie after he's done with work.
Speaking of work, I really need to get a job for these holidays. I'm low on money nowadays since my Mother consfiscated my bank card so that she could keep it to pay my tutor fees. I'm applying for St Albans Bubble Cup, but since I doubt they'll be open these school holidays, I would also be applying at other stalls. I think I will apply for full time.
Well that is all I have to say now, thank you for your patience. With much love, Pandemonium.
P.S: I changed my nickname to Pandemonium. CheeseCake was a name given to me as a joke from a friend, however I find it too childish. The definition of Pandemonium is a place of great chaos and havoc, usually including demons. I've always found this word interesting and somewhat sexy. I know it's immature to be using nicknames like these, however I don't really like my English name and not many people can pronounce my Vietnamese name. Therefore, Pandemonium was chosen. Have a good and and sweet dreams. Hope you drool and wet your bed ♥
